Paper Doll Interiors began in 1972 by founder Barbara Lawrence who started hanging wallpaper with a girlfriend. By popular demand, their business grew because housewives of the time felt safer having women coming to their home to hang the wallpaper. The close girlfriends became known as the “Paper Dolls.”

These smart and hard-working women, knew there was a market for top-quality interior design finishes and a store featuring the best brands and the highest quality window coverings and wallpaper with designers with extensive experience who take the time to work with each individual and match them with the products that fit each unique style, and that is how Paper Doll Interiors was born.

Paper Doll Interiors is today, after Mrs. Lawrence retirement in 2022 under new ownership, still women owned, designer Maria Deshayes continues to service the Coachella valley with professionalism and top quality design services, the same location 79-710 Highway 111 Ste 103 has transformed into a design studio specializing in Hunter Douglas window coverings, motorized and home automation shades, the largest library of custom-ordered wall paper, exterior patio shades and retractable screens. We have thousands of fabrics and wall covering options to choose from, and we love continuing to help owners of some of the most beautiful homes in the nation bring their window and wall coverings dreams to reality.
